About the event
Yoga Nidra (sometimes called yogic sleep) is a very old form of yoga that allows one to achieve a state “being” between waking and sleeping, somewhat like the place that feels like "going-to-sleep”. In this state the body is completely relaxed and by following verbal guidance you will become increasingly aware of your inner world, your “body mind”.
When practicing Yoga Nidra you remain in a state of light “withdrawn awareness” as the sense of hearing stays connected and responsive to the instructions. Yoga Nidra is among the deepest possible states of relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness. The practice is easy to do, with the only possible negative outcome being falling to sleep!
At the root of all healing is our core relationship with self. Practicing Yoga Nidra deepens and strengthens this relationship and increases our self awareness on all levels.
This is the powerful practice of conscious rest that systematically relaxes and unwinds physical, emotional, and mental tensions. When we sleep, we often continue to hold onto stress and sometimes wake up still feeling tired and overwhelmed. Yoga Nidra helps to break down these patterns through guided relaxation techniques, breath awareness, and meditation to reach resting states usually only experienced in the deepest states of sleep. The practice also holds the potential to turn your wholehearted desires into reality that will create positive ripple effects throughout your work-home- and personal-life.
Yoga Nidra has been shown to: decrease stress, anxiety, fear, and depression.
decrease insomnia and sleep disturbances.
improve interpersonal relations. increase confidence and joy. promote a greater sense of peace and wellbeing.
True healing begins when the body is at rest.
